Latvian Parliamentary Elections 2006 – Stabilization of the Party System?

The article deals with the election of the Latvian Parliament – Saeima – held in October 2006. For the first time in modern Latvian history, the election results brought, at least a partial stabilization of the party system. The article puts emphasis on the outcomes in five electoral districts underlining two dominant cleavages – socioeconomic and especially nationalistic.
