ECPR Conference in Pisa

Untitled document   The European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) held its conference from 6 th to 8 th  of September 2007 in Pisa. The main theme was the quality of democracy and democratic processes. This symposium of political scientists discussed issues ranging from "pure" political science through international relations, European studies and security studies to sociology and gender questions.

ecpr.jpg The European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) held its conference from 6th to 8th  of September 2007 in Pisa. The main theme was the quality of democracy and democratic processes. This symposium of political scientists discussed issues ranging from “pure” political science through international relations, European studies and security studies to sociology and gender questions.The highlight of the conference was conferring of the ECPR Lifetime Achievement Award on Professor Philipp Schmitter and the Mattei Dogan Award on Giovanni Sartori for achievements in political sociology. Thousands of political scientists from around the world enjoyed the unique experience of meeting one of the biggest gurus of the political sciences. ISPO was represented by a joint paper by Věra Stojarová and Hana Vykoupilová entitled „Populism in the Balkans. The Case of Serbia“. The papers of  Aneta Valterová (Manifestations of corporatism in the Czech Republic) and Jakub Šedo (Mixed systems in post-communist countries and their influence on the outcome of elections“) also met with great success.
