Conference: Parties and Party Systems in Eastern Europe

On 16 – 19 May 2007, Vít Hloušek and Jakub Šedo took part in a conference entitled Parties and Party Systems in Eastern Europe: [Developmental Trends Following the Decade of Transformation: deficits and their solutions]. The conference took place in Budapest in the pleasant surroundings of the Festetics Palace. The home organizers were the German-language Gyula Andrássy University, and Hungarian representation from the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.

The conference was divided into thematic blocks covering various regions in the former post-communist world, with varied topics including the new Central European member states of the European Union, and the unstable countries of the Caucasus. Attending the conference were a large number of scholars from Germany, Austria, the Visegrad countries, and others. Vít Hloušek and Jakub Šedo reported on the situation and trends in the Czech Republic’s party system.
