Working group POLICIES
As a result of increasing European integration, the arrangement and to a certain extent the character of the political arenas in which political actors perform are changing. As a result of these changes, dynamic transformations are taking place in political parties and other interest groups: their structure and relationships to voters are changing, and new communication and information strategies are appearing.
Special attention in the research is of course given to the increasing importance of multi-level governance (at the European, national, regional, and local levels) and the role of political actors in the process of interest representation on these levels.
An integral part of research is policy analysis under conditions of multi-level governance. The fact of these multiple levels produces a multiplication process within the context of political systems. Not only are the interests of political actors multiplied (mulitlevel and multiplied articulation and aggregation of interests), but there are also external factors that affect political actors and the political system as a whole.
